Cookies and Cream Baked Donuts

Donuts are one of my FAVORITE treats! In my opinion there’s nothing better than a local gourmet donut. So it only makes sense that my first recipe is an at home cookies and cream baked donut recipe. This donut recipe is perfect for a Saturday morning treat, special event, or even take them to your next friend or family get together!

Things you’ll need:

For the chocolate donut:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk of your choice

For cream cheese icing:

  • 4 ounces of cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons of milk (to decrease thickness of icing to preferred consistency)

Other:

  • 1-2 cups of crushed Oreos
  • Donut pan
  • Non-cook spray
  • Quart or gallon size zip lock bag

Instructions

For the chocolate donuts:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 deg
  • In a bowl combine the flower, brown sugar, salt, cocoa powder and baking powder
  • In a separate bowl, combine the vanilla extract, egg, unsalted butter and milk
  • Slowly combine the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and fold until fully combined
  • Spoon mixture into a quart or gallon sized zip lock bag and cut a small hole in the corner
  • Spray donut pan with non-stick spray and pipe mixture into donut pan
  • Bake in oven for 7-9 mins at 350 deg – make sure to not over cook and dry out the donuts!

For the icing:

  • In a bowl use a whisk or stand mixer to combine cream cheese, butter and vanilla extract until completely smooth
  • Gradually add in confectioners sugar
  • Add in milk until icing is at desired consistency

Assembly:

  • Once donuts have completely cooled, dip top of donut into icing, then coat in crushed Oreo mixture

Serve & Enjoy these baked donuts!
